Learn about NMI’s scientific work, investigate student projects, and network with NMI staff and students. Discovery Day is especially suited to students entering final year, honours or postgraduate studies with backgrounds in a wide variety of science and engineering disciplines. University staff and prospective co-supervisors are also very welcome. Registration is free but required in advance.

09:45-10:00 Sign-in
10:00-10:15 Overview of NMI
10:15-12:30 Escorted tour
12:30 onwards Networking session (tea, coffee and biscuits provided)

Please note:

  • Access to the laboratories is via escorted tour only.
  • Advance registration is required.
  • Visitors should arrive by 9:55 am to allow time for sign-in procedures.
  • The escorted tours commence at 10:15 am and conclude at 12:30 pm.
  • Each site is only open on one day—Lindfield on the 18th of August and North Ryde on the 25th of August. There is no public transport between the sites.

OHSE and Other Requirements

Closed flat-soled footwear is mandatory.

Photo ID will be required when signing in.

Getting there

Free car parking is available. The Lindfield site is served by bus 565 (“CSIRO West Lindfield” stop). We recommend checking the transport information and maps on our website as some navigational apps have been reported to provide the wrong directions.
