Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 1982 provides the public with right of access to documents held by Australian government agencies. Click here for information about the freedom of information process and how to make a request.

Freedom of information requests are posted on the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science's freedom of information disclosure log.

Since 1 May 2011 every Australian government agency has had to publish an information publication scheme. The scheme aims to transform the freedom of information framework from one that responds to individual requests for access to documents to one that requires agencies to take a proactive approach to publishing information.
